CREATIVE IMPACT PRODUCER: rEFUGIA / tv mini series

K'gari (or Fraser Island) is the traditional land of the Butchulla people, and a heritage-listed island, located along the southeastern coast of Queensland, Australia.

Shereene, Elder of the Butchulla people, also known as ‘the people of the ocean’ shares their simple philosophy - 3 laws carried down generations in which they base their lives upon today:

1. What is good for the land and the waters must come first; we always have to look after our land and waters because it means being able to take care of ourselves and our families.

2. If we have plenty, we are to share it; food, time, love, care, wisdom, knowledge. Share it.

3. If it doesn’t belong to you leave it alone, respect where you are and where you go.

K’agri means paradise, and Episode 2 of the Refugia series on @waterbearnetwork takes you onto the beautiful island through the lens of the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Butchulla people.
